Financial Accountant (12 month FTC)

The role

As a Financial Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract, you’ll be hands-on with day-to-day finance operations, supporting month-end, and contributing to reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Reporting to our Senior Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with teams across the business to help drive Prospa’s financial performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting our Financial Control team with a mix of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, operational tasks and ad-hoc projects
  • Managing daily cash transactions and processing, and handling bank reconciliations
  • Leading key accounting processes — including posting journals, reconciling the loan book, preparing accruals and pre payments, and reconciling the balance sheet
  • Assisting with trust accounting processes, including journal entries and month-end reconciliations
  • Preparing annual financial statements and ensuring compliance with Australian and New Zealand accounting standards
  • Coordinating and supporting external audits
  • Mentoring AP/AR officer, providing day to day guidance and support
  • Handling compliance tasks, including tax reporting, AFSL calculations, trust and APRA reporting
  • Improving accounting processes and driving operational efficiency

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with 1-2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Great communicator and collaborator, across the business and with our external stakeholders
  • Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, Blackline and/or Anaplan is advantageous
  • Commercial experience in a Financial Services / FinTech setting highly regarded.
