The role

This represents a unique opportunity to join one of Australia's most exciting and fastest growing ASX Listed Fintech businesses with an awesome culture and plenty of further growth.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager you will be part of the high performance finance team contributing to the day-to-day financial activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Owning and supervising Prospa’s finance systems in order to ensure timely and accurate production of accounts and reports according to Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Establishing and continually improving general accounting procedures and systems.
  • Leading a small, passionate, high performance team of finance staff.
  • Deliver on the day-to-day, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, End of Day funds processing, broker commissions and cash management.
  • Loan Book receivables reconciliations.
  • Preparing and submitting statutory reports/returns. Including Half Year financial statements and the Annual Report.
  • Delivery of an efficient high-quality monthly close process including Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting the preparation of tax returns (Income Tax, FBT, Business Activity Statements, R&D submissions).
  • Responsible for the Prospa Group consolidation process.
  • Identify and implement the changes required to improve finance operational efficiency and support the fast-paced scaling of the business across multiple products and geographies.
  • Work collaboratively with all parts across Prospa to drive better outcomes across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Preparation and processing of month end reporting up to the trial balance stage
  • Processing of accruals, prepayments and subsequent journals
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations including Loan Book and Bank
  • Preparation of financial statements and APRA returns
  • External audit liaison and support
  • Preparation of technical accounting management papers according to AASB (or IFRS) standards as required
  • Processing of accruals, prepayments and subsequent journals
  • Ensuring correct accounting treatment for technical matters, for example:
    • Hedge accounting;
    • AASB 9; and
    • AASB 16.
  • Preparation of tax and deferred tax accounting and reconciliations
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Financial Control team including brokers, customers, cash transactions.
  • Supporting the Financial Control team with ad hoc accounting or operational matters.

About you

  • Chartered Accountant Australia or CPA with minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Finance / Accounting
  • Previous experience in audit, ideally Big 4.
  • Financial services and banking experience will be highly regarded.
  • Strong technical accounting understanding.
  • Communication skills both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated experience of high levels of attention to detail is essential.
